Location 1 – Overview of The Slaney Valley

Description	Location 1 provides an introduction of the landscape in this tour. Set in the Slaney Valley, this tour begins in Baltinglass. There is a pedestrian seating bench located on the Baltinglass-Rathvilly road just before the Castledermot intersection. Seated on this bench, Keadeen and Carrig Mountain, with Kilranelagh nestled in the middle will be within viewing distance, as well as Rathcoran and Sruhan towards the left.

Viewpoint	Once seated, you are now facing towards Keadeen Mountain and Kilranelagh Hillfort. Looking to the left, towards the town of Baltinglass; Rathcoran and Sruhan hilltops are also within your view. This will become more visible as you descend into the town of Baltinglass within the valley of the river Slaney, as you progress to location two of this tour.
